Catalyst Pet Donates Six Tons of Litter to Rescue Partners

Catalyst Pet is donating more than 1,200 bags of litter to its rescue partners across the country, which equates to six tons! The donation is the result of the litter company’s Buy a Bag, Give a Bag program in which Catalyst Pet pledged to customers they would donate a second bag to one of their rescue partners for every bag of litter purchased on or on over a two-week period this past December.

“We received an overwhelming amount of support from our partners and our customers for this holiday initiative to support these wonderful nonprofits,” says Jonah Levine, Catalyst Pet’s product manager. “We’re thrilled to be able to offer this extra boost of support at a time when many are seeing an increase in the number of cats and kittens coming into their shelters and rescues.”

We at Catalyst Pet believe sustainability is about more than the environment but also about health and justice in communities. That’s why we launched a shelter and rescue program in June 2020 to support organizations and people across the country that rescue, shelter, and trap-neuter-return kittens and cats.

"Catalyst Pet is our hero! Not only is their litter truly the best, but we also love that it’s good for cats, humans and the environment. It clumps well, smells great and it doesn’t break your back when lifting a bag,” says Michele Hoffman, the president and founder of Milo’s Sanctuary, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit founded on the belief that all cats deserve a second chance at life. “Catalyst has been so kind to Milo's Sanctuary and the Buy a Bag, Give a Bag initiative in December was a huge success. They donated much needed litter.”

From donating litter monthly, raising awareness about the rescues’ efforts through marketing initiatives, to providing discount coupons to new cat parents and foster parents, we work with numerous nonprofits across the country to support them in the ways they need. To date, Catalyst Pet has donated more than 80,000 pounds of litter.

“The Stray Cat Alliance team and its kitties are very grateful for Catalyst Pet’s support and litter donations,” says Tiffany Palazzini, the social media and corporate partnerships manager for Stray Cat Alliance, a Los Angeles based nonprofit working to educate and empower communities to advocate for every cat’s right to be safe, healthy, and valued. “Thank you to all who supported Stray Cat Alliance through the Buy a Bag, Give a Bag initiative in December! Our adoptable kitties are loving it!”

The nonprofits Catalyst works with vary in size and location, but each have a strong mission toward keeping cats safe and healthy. Organizations include Austin Pets Alive!, Stray Cat Alliance, Milo’s Sanctuary, Animal Friends Alliance, Chalky’s Cat Crusade, Conquer the

Colony, Greater Derry Humane Society, Only Kindness Rescue, Second Chance Kitty, Three Little Pitties, and Paw Partners Unleashed to name a few.

“We believe sustainability is about creating change for good,” says Levine. “It’s about supporting our community and lending a hand wherever we can. That’s why we started this program and are working hard to continue to grow it.”
