Start 2025 Right: Save Money, Stay Healthy, and Go Green with Catalyst Pet Litter

Happy 2025 from all of us at Catalyst Pet!

If you haven’t committed to any goals or resolutions yet, allow us to help. Want to save money, promote health and live more sustainably? Switch to Catalyst Pet and accomplish all three simultaneously. You’ll be paws-itively thrilled with the outcome!

Our upcycled pine wood litter is completely sustainable, high-performing and cost-effective— making it healthy for the planet, your cat and your wallet!

Mary Linn Lombardo of Only Kindness Rescue is an enthusiastic user of Catalyst Pet litter.

“We get 100 pounds of litter each month; we went through twice as much with another leading, and more expensive, brand we used before,” she says. “[Catalyst Pet] works incredibly well. It’s especially perfect for our special needs cats.”

Want to really dive into the details of making the switch? We break each benefit down below.

Saving Money
Customers who switch to Catalyst Pet save 30% on their annual litter costs because our litter is highly efficient and less dense than clay litter, offering twice the absorption. With Catalyst, less is truly more—one pound of upcycled softwood litter does the work of four pounds of clay. Sign up for a four-month subscription or longer to start seeing immediate savings.

Want to dig deeper? Use our online cat-culator to determine your cost for litter and shipping (subscriptions ship free, by the way) to see just how much you could save. Bonus info: Many of our customers have found one bag of litter lasts longer than a month!

If you’re not so much for the research, head straight for the eco-hero subscription. It’s delivered every other month, minimizing shipping and transportation emissions and ringing in at just $12.35/bag. That’s our best deal, paws down.

Good Health for All
The health of both your cat and you is a top priority at Catalyst Pet, which is why our litter is carefully formulated for well-being. Litter dust, regardless of the type, can irritate the respiratory systems of both cats and humans. Catalyst Pet solves this with litter made from upcycled soft pine wood, free of bark, needles, and other contaminants. It’s 99% dust-free, permeable, and clumps easily—without sodium bentonite—making scooping effortless and breathing worry-free.

Clay litters use sodium bentonite as a clumping agent, which is not a good pick for your furry friend or you. When exposed to liquid, clay litter can swell up to 15 times its natural size. This is a concern, particularly when sodium bentonite gets on your cat’s fur and paws. It can be easily ingested, especially by kittens, because of a cat’s tendency to lick and clean itself. Young kittens, with their childlike curiosity, are particularly vulnerable. Ingestion of this chemical can cause intestinal blockages, which can be fatal at worst and toxic at best.

Many clay litters also contain silica, which is considered a carcinogen when inhaled. When your cat kicks up silica-based litter, it’s circulated in the air and can infiltrate your cat’s lungs and cause respiratory problems. Cats with asthma are at higher risk as the silica can irritate their lungs and potentially worsen an attack. Humans can also be adversely affected by circulating silica.

Living More Sustainably
Most cat lovers aren’t aware that the sodium bentonite in traditional clay litters is a strip-mined mineral that is not biodegradable. A 2017 report revealed more than five billion pounds of sodium bentonite is mined each year just for cat litter, with 2 million coming from the United States. Mined sodium bentonite is often mined far from where it’s used in the litter manufacturing process, and because this clumping agent is so heavy, transportation emissions are large. Once used in cat litter, it ends up in the landfill at an estimated volume of more than 125,000 truckloads each year.

Catalyst Pet is sustainable, biodegradable, and does not require difficult-to-extract, harmful resources for its manufacture. The upcycled soft wood fiber used to make it is collected from wood processing facilities that would otherwise send it to a landfill. The wood fibers are sourced locally, requiring far less transportation. Wood fiber is lightweight, another lower impact environmental win for Catalyst. Once used, our wood litter is biodegradable.

Make 2025 the year you prioritize your cat, your wallet and the planet. Switching to Catalyst Pet is an easy resolution to keep, with big rewards for your furry friend, you and the environment.

Why You Should Leave Clay Litter in the Dust

Most cat lovers are not aware that clay litters are made of sodium bentonite, a mineral that is strip-mined and not biodegradable, but that’s not where the problems end. Clay litter can also be unhealthy for your furry feline.
