Tackle Your New Year’s Resolutions with Catalyst Pet

Welcome to 2024! The start of a new year always brings new goals and resolutions. Some of the most popular resolutions each year are saving money, being healthier, and living a more sustainable lifestyle. Lucky for you, we’ve got a way you can tackle all of those in one: by switching to Catalyst Pet!

Catalyst’s upcycled pine wood litter is completely sustainable, high-performing, and cost-effective – making it healthy for the planet, your cat, and your wallet!

“There’s this assumption that products that are healthier for your animals and better for the environment are more expensive, but that’s not the case here,” Catalyst Pet’s Cammie Kaminski. “With Catalyst Pet, you get the best of all worlds.”

So, how exactly can switching to Catalyst help you achieve three resolutions in one? Let’s start with saving money.

Customers who switch to Catalyst Pet save 30% on their annual litter cost. This is because of our litter’s efficiency. At half the density of clay litter with two times the absorption, less is more with Catalyst. One pound of upcycled softwood litter does the work of four pounds of clay. Sign up for a four-month subscription or longer, and you’ll start to see immediate savings.

Still not sold? Use our online cat-culator to determine your cost for litter and shipping (subscriptions ship free, by the way). Take a look to see how much you could save, and keep in mind that many of our customers have found one bag of litter lasts longer than a month!

If you’re not so much for the research, here’s the scoop: the best bang for your buck is the eco-hero subscription, which is delivered every other month – minimizing shipping and transportation emissions  and costing just $12.35/bag. That’s our best deal, paws down.

What about being healthier?

Catalyst Pet is the healthy choice for you and your cat. Why? Litter dust, no matter the type of litter, can be a potential respiratory irritant for both cats and humans. Made of upcycled soft pine wood (meaning no bark, needles, or other contaminants), Catalyst Pet is 99% dust free, permeable and clumps (without sodium bentonite) for easy scooping and worry-free breathing.

Certain kinds of litter, like those made of clay, are no friend to your feline. Clay litters use sodium bentonite as a clumping agent. When exposed to liquid, it can swell up to 15 times its natural size. This is a concern, particularly when sodium bentonite gets on your cat’s fur and paws, where it is easily ingested by your kitty’s tendency to lick and clean itself. Ingestion of this chemical can cause intestinal blockages, which can be fatal at worst and toxic at best. Kittens are particularly vulnerable to this because they may want to taste the litter out of childlike curiosity.

Many clay litters also contain the chemical compound silica. When inhaled, silica is considered a carcinogen. The more your cat kicks up silica-based litter, the more is circulated in the air, ultimately infiltrating your cat’s lungs and causing respiratory problems. For cats with asthma, this can irritate their lungs and potentially worsen an attack. Humans aren’t immune to this either, as silica litters can worsen your own breathing issues!

Can a litter really be affordable, healthy, and sustainable? Yes!

Most cat lovers aren’t aware that the sodium bentonite in traditional clay litters is a strip-mined mineral that is not biodegradable. A 2017 report revealed more than five billion pounds of sodium bentonite is mined each year just for cat litter, often far from where it’s used in the litter manufacturing process. Transportation emissions of this heavy material are no joke. Plus, once it’s used as cat litter, it ends up in the landfill at an estimated volume of more than 125,000 truckloads each year.

Catalyst Pet is completely sustainable and biodegradable and does not require precious resources for its manufacture. The upcycled soft wood fiber used to make it is collected from wood processing facilities that would otherwise send it to a landfill. The wood fibers are sourced locally, requiring far less transportation. Wood fiber is also lightweight, another lower impact environmental win for Catalyst. Once used, our wood litter is biodegradable! It can even be composted and spread in soil (as long as it’s not soil used to grow consumable food).

What are you waiting for? Make 2024 your best year yet with Catalyst Pet!

Why You Should Leave Clay Litter in the Dust

Most cat lovers are not aware that clay litters are made of sodium bentonite, a mineral that is strip-mined and not biodegradable, but that’s not where the problems end. Clay litter can also be unhealthy for your furry feline.
